In my second term, I want to Continue the Work, Uphold the Traditions, and Create Opportunities for Growth and Innovation.
TO DO THIS I WILL:
Kirkwood has a rich tradition of excellent schools, and this legacy must be protected by attracting and retaining excellent teachers, advocating throughout the region and state for public schools, and being careful stewards of our budget.
Over the next year, the Kirkwood School Board will be developing a new Five-Year Strategic Plan which will benefit the entire Kirkwood School District, and we need to make sure we provide data-driven, clear measurables and accountability to ensure that the goals are achieved.
We need to meet kids where they are and help them reach their full potential. This requires early intervention to identify achievement gaps and regular follow-up. KSD is part of developing new assessments through the Success Ready Student Network and this will benefit all of our kids, and take into account a variety of learning styles. Now more than ever, after the tumultuous past few years of dealing with the pandemic, we need to check in on each child and respond to what they need.
We have to listen to each other to find common ground because we all want what is best for our children. We need to bring all parties together to put in place the best policies for our children and ensure there is transparency in all that we do.
